Getting started

What do I need?

An iPhone with iOS 17 or later. Apple Watch is optional and needs watchOS 10 or later. Apple Health makes Cycle Ahead much smarter, but you can log everything by hand too.

How does Cycle Ahead know where I am in my cycle?

From the last period you log (or that's in Apple Health), and your usual cycle length. It learns your own pattern over the next few cycles, and you can always correct it. If your period is late, it asks you rather than guessing.

I'm on the pill, have no periods, or I'm in perimenopause or menopause.

Choose the programme that fits under You, then Your programme. Where there's no cycle to follow, your plan follows your week and how you feel each morning.

Why won't Cycle Ahead make me a plan?

It won't make a plan for anyone under 18, or when your answers to the health check at the start mean you should talk to your GP first: if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, have a history of disordered eating, or have a heart, kidney or metabolic condition. This is deliberate. You can go back and change your answers if one was wrong.

Apple Health and Apple Watch

Apple Health isn't showing my data.

Open the Health app, tap your profile picture, then Apps, then Cycle Ahead, and check the types you want are turned on. Then reopen Cycle Ahead.

My watch says "Open the app on iPhone".

The watch gets its daily plan from your iPhone. Open Cycle Ahead on your iPhone with your watch nearby, and it will update. Make sure Cycle Ahead is installed on the watch (Watch app on your iPhone, then Available Apps).

How do I add the complication?

Touch and hold your watch face, tap Edit, swipe to the complications and choose Cycle Ahead.

Subscriptions

How much is it?

A 7-day free trial for new subscribers, then A$39.99 a year or A$6.99 a month (or the App Store price in your country). It renews automatically until you cancel. See the subscription terms.

When will I be charged?

At the end of your 7-day free trial, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. After that, at the start of each year or month until you cancel.

How do I cancel?

On your iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Cycle Ahead, Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before your trial or period ends to avoid the next charge. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting the app, or your data, doesn't cancel the subscription.

I've changed phones and lost my subscription.

Sign in with the same Apple ID, then tap Restore on the subscription screen.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, choose Cycle Ahead and tell Apple what went wrong. This doesn't affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Your data

Where is my data?

On your iPhone, and in Apple Health if you allowed it. We have no servers and never receive it. See the privacy policy.

How do I back up my data?

Your iPhone backup (iCloud Backup or your computer) includes Cycle Ahead's file, and what you log is also saved to Apple Health. You can make your own copy any time: You, then Export my data.

How do I delete my data?

In the app: You, then Delete all my data. Deleting the app also removes its storage. Anything saved to Apple Health stays there until you delete it in the Health app. We can't delete anything for you, because we never had it.

Can you recover my diary?

Only your own iPhone backup can. We never receive your data, so we can't get it back.
